Ronhill Running Clothing

Ronhill clothing company was started by the long distance runner Ron Hill in 1970 as Ron Hill Sports. The company led the way with reflective clothing and all weather sports clothing because of his dedication to the sport of running that led him to be out in all weather and all times of year. The first London Marathon was established in 1981 and this caused the brand to take off significantly and although he sold the company in 1990 to Peaco they have continued his pioneering efforts leading the way in technology and design.

Fabric technology

Ronhill uses fabrics with technology that is perfect for use during the summer months including moisture wicking fabrics that draw moisture away from the body leaving the wearer feeling dry and cool. As well as sweating being a problem during the summer being out running means that you are exposed to the sun and harmful UV rays, this is why many of the Ronhill sports tops have UV filtering material that can block out 98% of the harmful rays. They create clothes that are close fitting and fast drying in feminine colours. From base layers to jackets they cover a wide range of clothes for both men and women.

Being developed in a country where the weather is unpredictable and wet and cold many months of the year has meant that Ronhill have had to cover the need for waterproof, warm garments that are not going to impede on the athlete's performance. Ronhill source and create fabrics that are to be used in adverse weather to great effect. Fabrics like weather stop are waterproof and breathable and have good stretch and flexibility which is of great importance when out training in the winter. As well as a wide range of high technology fabrics Ronhill have also developed some fabric treatments to ensure that optimum performance is achieved, DXB waterproof fabric treatment is exclusive to Ronhill, and the water runs off the fabric in droplets meaning that it is not absorbed and therefore none of the weight of the water will slow you down.

Running for the future

The Ronhill range is specifically designed for outdoor runners and this is why they have developed their 3 layer system which is designed to make running in all weather safer and to improve performance. There are base layers which are designed to sit close to the body and are made out of high performance moisture wicking fabrics. The second layer is to generate warmth but still provide good moisture wicking properties to continue drawing the moisture away from the body and keeping the runner cool. The final layer is the waterproof layer which keeps you dry and protects you from the wind without adding any extra weight or bulk.
