Dancing & Aerobics
Getting fit and healthy needn't be an arduous task that fills you with dread, it can actually be fun! Dance and aerobics are some of the more dynamic fitness exercises around, making you not only look great but also feel brilliant.
Fun & Varied Exercise
Dance is an extremely varied exercise, with numerous different disciplines to get involved with. Challenging styles like ballet, tap, Latin, modern and jazz require patience, a good memory for dance routines and a work ethic to match. It's a great way to get fit as you get to learn new skills, undertake challenging choreography and have fun with friends old and new.
Dance Your Way To Fitness
Whatever dance you choose to do you can be sure that you'll be getting some great exercise. Dancing will stretch your every sinew as you perfect the movements and get to grips with the choreography. Practice makes perfect, but in the mean time you'll be giving your body an excellent cardiovascular workout and developing muscles you may not even have known existed.
Due to the nature of dance, all that is generally required is a space in which to perform and some music to get things in the groove. Therefore dance classes and lessons tend to be liberally spread throughout the country, from rural community centres to city studios and gyms. Getting started can be as simple as looking up your local dance class and getting signed up.
Flexible Aerobic Workouts
Aerobics is a similarly demanding but equally enjoyable exercise routine. This aerobic training is designed to provide an excellent cardiovascular workout, giving you increased levels of fitness, resulting in improved health and even shedding a few of those unwanted pounds. The sessions usually comprise of a rigorous routine of exercises led by an instructor, the length and intensity of which will usually depend on your particular fitness level and subsequent course choice.
Exercise At Home
Just as with dance, aerobics can be done almost anywhere. You can even get involved from the comfort of your home with one of the many aerobic exercise videos or instructional books. This can be particularly useful for those people with hectic lifestyles, where time is at a premium and factoring in visits to an aerobics session just isn't viable. Unlike some other cardiovascular exercises, aerobics is largely a low impact activity. This makes it suitable for ladies of all ages, shapes and physical fitness.
Wearing The Right Gear
The choice of clothing is largely at your own discretion for aerobics. However, loose fitting clothing is far more likely to impede your exercises, whilst thick attire is likely to make you overheat. Therefore it is far better to wear thinner layers that stay close to your skin, to give you that extra manoeuvrability for the more testing exercises.
Dance clothing largely depends on what form you are doing; it would look rather ridiculous turning up in a tutu to a tap class for example. During practice it is far better to wear comfortable, but relatively close-fitting clothing that affords you the freedom to move with grace and guile. Footwear is again largely dependent on the genre of dance, so as with all new things it is usually best to check beforehand to make sure that you've got all the right equipment.
